I have a 2007 Prius,70,000 miles, with HID headlights.The headlights turn off while driving,sometimes both ,on other ocasions either the left or right.Just wondering if others have been experiencing this problem?

I don't remember any similar posts regarding the Prius. Best thing would be to check the seating of the bulbs, and the wiring harness connections. Another possibility is a problem with the headlight switch assembly. Have you had any maintenance work done recently? A mechanic may have dislodged a connection.

indicates "The NHTSA has reportedly filed a preliminary investigation into the issue and contacted Toyota on May 13 regarding 338 complaints it has received so far from Prius owners about the HID headlamps."    Furthermore, a class action lawsuit has been filed in Los Angeles about this issue.   This bears watching carefully as the report indicates this has been an issue since 2005.

I have a 2006 Prius with intermittent headlight problems on drivers side. The internet is full of Prius  owners with HID headlights with similar problems. I would recommend you place a complaint with the NHSTA and with Toyota USA. Hopefully with enough complaints Toyota will fix the problem.
