Talk about TV shopping:  RCA 61" wide screen television

In 2001 we purchased a RCA 61" wide screen HDTV  for $6000.00 and today it is worthless!   Since we purchased it - it has been repaired twice,  this second time RCA says it is not worth repairing, they are willing to give us $12++.00 towards another "similar" type of television.   If anyone has any suggestions as to another brand to purchase please let me know,  I have been doing some research and have come up with Toshiba, Panasonic or Hitachi (larger screen models).   Any comments on these?
